| Representative Lincoln Diaz-Balart pronounces tribute to Dr. Ofelia Tabares-Fernandez, Founder and President of the CUBAN MUSEUM |
On Tuesday, January 9th, 2007, the Honorable Representative Lincoln Diaz-Balart, pronounced on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, a tribute to Dr. Ofelia Tabares-Fernandez, Founder and President of the CUBAN MUSEUM, for her "outstanding contributions to the South Florida community". Congressman Diaz-Balart went on to state for the Congressional Record that "both in her professional and private life, Dr. Tabares-Fernandez has dedicated countless hours to enriching our community culturally and economically. I wholeheartedly commend Dr. Tabares-Fernandez for her hard work and dedication on behalf of South Florida".
The Members of the Board of Directors of the CUBAN MUSEUM, together with all the Members of the Amigos of the CUBAN MUSEUM, join with Representative Lincoln Diaz-Balart in extending our wholehearted congratulations, coupled with a profound sense of appreciation, to Dr. Ofelia Tabares-Fernandez for her many years of dedication and personal sacrifice to the betterment of the cultural and economic life of South Florida and to the establishment of a permanent home for a CUBAN MUSEUM worthy of honoring the rich legacy of Cuban artists, musicians, composers, dramatists, writers, educators, and other intellectuals - expatriots all - who have tirelessly and lovingly contributed their time, talents, and skills to the success and cultural enrichment of not only South Florida but also the nation and the world.
